Held for 6 years by the Confederation of French Buyers and the consulting firm MDC, this national competition aims to promote the purchasing function, distinguishing the best initiatives of this profession through several awards. Its category for students, the « Trophée des étudiants acheteurs » awards the best case study conducted by students of business schools or universities.
On May 29th, our 7 students defended their study on responsible workwear purchasing in front of a jury of Purchasing Managers of small businesses. They thus described the specific levers of this activity by exposing their findings in three distinct parts:
- The presentation of the cotton industry thanks to a global sourcing
- The establishment of a responsible workwear purchasing policy
- The study on the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) and life cycle analysis of workwear.
To conduct their case study, students had previously carried out surveys within large national companies (such as SNCF, Veolia, La Poste, Monoprix, the Department of Defense or the Gendarmerie Nationale), which greatly contributed to the emergence and the implementation of socially responsible and environmentally sustainable purchasing. Manufacturers of fair trade workwera(Armor Lux …), textile articles or footwear (Veja…) were also asked in this study.
Next step for our students: the « Trophées des Achats » night, on June 18th at the Casino de Paris, in which the results of the 2012 edition will be announced in the presence of over 1,000 professionals.
We wish them good luck!
The students with the Program Director of the MBA in International Purchasing & Logistics, Mrs Soubise.
